TARKWA GOLD ARMED ROBBERS BUSTED WITH AN OFFICER OF THE GHANA AIRFORCE

Tarkwa Gold Armed Robbers

Six armed robbers out of eleven who were involved in an armed robbery operations in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality are currently in the grips of the western regional police command.

In their first robbery attack at Akyempim, they robbed GH₵600.000 from their victims who are gold dealers. In their second robbery operation which took place in front of hotel de-Hilda area also in Tarkwa they took a cash of GH₵300.000 from their victims.

Whiles in their third robbery operation which took place in front of the Ahantaman Rural Bank in Tarkwa, the armed robbers robbed their victims of GH₵1.5 million cash.

An officer from the Ghana Airforce by name Corporal Emmanuel Owusu Yeboah who is 32 years of age and the Community Affairs Manager of Goldfields Ghana Limited- Tarkwa Mine with nine others who engaged in these robberies made away with a total of GH₵2.4 million from their victims who are mainly gold dealers in Tarkwa.

1 Toyota Corrolla with registration number GX 1924-14, 3 Nissan Urvan with registration numbers GY 823-13, GY 824-13, GW 5117-14 respectively, 1 Nissan Almera Taxi cab with registration number GY 2866-13, 1 unregistered corolla and a Nissan Terano with registration number GE 8048-W which was used in committing robbery have been retrieved by the police from these six armed robbers.

Briefing pressmen at the Western Regional Police Headquarters at Sekondi Wednesday afternoon. DCOP Isaac Quainoo noted that police will make every effort to arrest the five others who are currently at large and retrieve from them the rest all the others from them.

Meanwhile he advised gold dealers carry bulk sums of money on them in transacting such business.

The accused persons have been remanded into prison custody to re-appear on the 27th of August, 2014.

In a related development, 21 suspected drug peddlers have been rounded up by the Drug Law Enforcement Unit Sekondi in their different hideouts in the Awoin Suaman District of the Western Region.

According to the western regional police commander DCOP Isaac Quainoo, the police is going all out to fight the issue of drug peddling in our society.

“In an attempt to clamp down on narcotic drug peddlers and other suspected criminals within the region we organized an operation within Enchi, Yankamem and Dadieso on 5th August, 2014 in which we arrested these drug peddlers”.

Exhibits retrieved from them includes four hundred and sixty-seven (467) wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, nineteen (19) compressed parcels, a quantity of seeds suspected to be narcotic drug, two hundred and thirteen (213) wrappers of brownish sustenance suspected to be cocaine, gallons of alcohol laced with dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and some paraphernalia believed to be used in narcotic business.

The suspects includes women and even a pregnant mother who delivered her baby out of shock of police arrest but lost the baby.

All 21 suspected drug peddlers are currently in police custody yet to be arranged before court.
