DISGRUNTLE CHIEFS GOES TO COURT OVER ELECTION OF NEW EXECUTIVE


Some disgruntled chiefs in the Western Region House of Chiefs have decided to contest the election of new executive of the house at the high court since according to them proper lay down procedure of the house was not duly followed.

The disgruntled chiefs include Awule Agyefi Kwame II, Awule Angamatu Egyan II, Awule Annor Adjei III and Ogyeahouo Yaw Gyebi II. In a press briefing held in Takoradi on Wednesday, the chiefs indicated that the recent elections held by the Western Region House of Chiefs which was supervised by the regional electoral commission was not in sink with lay down procedure of the house and they therefore describe the elections as nal and void.
The aggrieved chiefs insist the notice of meeting on 3rd December 2012 was improper as it was not even issued by the proper officer reorganized by the house.
Adding that six out of the twenty-two members of the house converged that day and they were not up to half of the membership of the house so they wonder how they cloud go on and elect new president and his vice as well as five other members to represent the house at the national house of chiefs and the EC also supervised this lawless conduct by some of their colleagues.  
In the rit presented to the press, they are calling on the high court to declare the 3rd December 2012 elections held in the House at Sekondi to elect new executive as nal and void and a consequential order setting same aside.

They are also seeking an injection restraining the third to the sixth respondent from acting or holding themselves out as persons elected as president and vice president of the western region house of chiefs as well as members of the national house of chiefs.
According to the aggrieved chiefs, they do not recognize the Omanhene of Wassa Fiase Traditional Area, Osagyefo Kwamina Enimil VI as the president of the western region house of chiefs including the vice and the other executive members as their leaders and the right persons to represent the house at the national house of chiefs.
