Based on persistent report of activities of drug peddlers in the Elubo Township, the western regional police command yesterday February 9 2011 mounted an operation in and around the Elubo Township.
The operations were held at various locations like the Elubo lorry station, Elubo market, Cocoa town areas and on the banks of the River Tano.
Eighteen people were arrested including one female and quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were found in their ghettos most of their ghettos were also burnet down by the team of policemen.
Briefing journalist at the police head quarters- Sekondi, the western regional police public relations officer Olivia Adiku said the purpose of the excise was not just to arrest the peddlers but also to flash them out and destabilize their activities from these areas completely, warning them that the police will always be on them.
The eighteen persons arrested are being screened and those found culpable will be arranged before the court.
However the exhibit will also be sent to the crime laboratory in Accra for examination.
