Samia Yaba Christina Nkrumah

The only parliamentary seats held by the daughter of Ghana's first President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Samia Yaba Christina Nkrumah for her fathers party the Convention People's Party (CPP) was on Friday 7th December 2012 lost by difference of 3,541 vote to the ruling NDC in a keen contest between Francis Kabenleh Anaman of the NDC, Joseph Ewoniah of the NPP, Margaret Blay-Kenyah of the PPP and the incumbent member of parliament Samia Yaba Christina Nkrumah of the CPP who as well doubles as the National Chairperson of the same party.

Samia Yaba Christiana Nkrumah was obviously the absolute choice of her fathers people when she contested the Jomoro parliamentary seat in the 2008 general elections on the ticket of her father's party, CPP.

She own the contest with 19,916 vote whiles NDC's Lee Ocran placed second with 13,345 vote. Martin Nyame Ackah of the NPP was third with 6,345 vote and Jemaima Soboe of the PNC placed fourth pulling 220 vote.

Many still wonder how she suddenly lost her popularity among her own people to cause her misfortunes in the just ended general elections. But at the end of last Friday's parliamentary contest in the Jomoro constituency, the NDC candidate pulled 21,651 vote, whiles the NPP candidate pulled 9,630 vote.

The PPP candidate pulled 1,894 vote and the incumbent Member of Parliament on the ticket of CPP also pulled 18,110 vote making the NDC's aspiring candidate Francis Kabenleh Anaman the elected member of parliament for the Jomoro constituency and his mandate spans from 2013 to 2016.

All efforts by our correspondent to speak to Samia Yaba Christina Nkrumah about the way forward for her proved futal but for the mean time, Samia Yaba Christian Nkrumah will have to continue with her chairpersons role in her fathers party.

Responding to this story, the chairperson for the Convention Peoples Party Samia Yaba Nkrumah told Reporters Platform on a telephone interview this morning that the will of the people of Jomoro had been stolen away from them by the NDC.

She alleged that the NDC bused people from neighboring Ivory Coast to register as voters in the constituency and they did same on the last Friday to vote massively for the NDC.

The CPP according to her will from next year rebuild in a radical way to capture back the Jomoro seat and other parliamentary seats across the country.
She stated "Nkrumah never dies, we shall be back".
